Randstad is hiring for a LEAD ACCOUNTANT to sit in our Fort Lauderdale, FL office! This position will lead a team of accountants and senior accountants in our operational accounting department.

Position Overview: 

The Lead Accountant in the Accounting Team will be responsible for preparing a variety of journal entries, reconciling balance sheet and operating statement accounts with high risk, leading field or head office department month-end meetings, training Staff and Senior Accountants and supporting the overall operations of the Accounting Department

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis for accounts with high risk, including preparing journal entries
  • Review the results of assigned business areas and make necessary accounting entries; investigate and report on variances
  • Plan, coordinate and lead assigned field and/or head office department month-end reviews
  • Complete monthly, quarterly and year-end close responsibilities
  • Determine potential weaknesses in internal controls and implement changes to correct them; recommend process improvements and implement process improvements
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting to Holdings
  • Lead external audit timelines and tasks
  • Prepare analytics and/or models to better understand business results; work closely with the Finance Planning team to understand budgets and forecast and the related variances
  • Use technology to streamline manual processes
  • Provide training and guidance for Staff and Senior Accountants
  • Monitor and ensure completion of Staff and Senior Accountants’ reconciliations
  • Special projects

Education & Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting required
  • 4-8 years of experience
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel 
  • Experience working with P&L statements
  • Understands or has experience in Operational Accounting
  • Experience with JD Edwards, Peoplesoft and/or Hyperion a plus
  • Must be a team player with ability to maintain a positive attitude in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and manage multiple projects at once
  • Must have strong communication skills and be able to provide leadership to Staff and Senior Accountants
  • Strong analytical skills
