Senior Developer BI and ETL - 31854

This position focuses on the development and delivery of business intelligence solutions including ETL, dashboards, scorecards and reports using the BI Platform using Open Source tools like Pentaho (PDI, Talend, Ctools) or standard tools like Cognos, Business objects, SSRS, Crystal Reports etc. The ideal candidate will reflect a mix of strong technical proficiency, aptitude to learn new skills, teamwork, and a desire to deliver exceptional results.
Responsibilities include working with users and BI team members to determine requirements, providing work estimates, performing data analysis, creation, modification and tuning of reports and dashboards, create stored procedures and queries, verifying output and ensuring data accuracy, migrating changes to production, producing documentation, process monitoring and problem solving, and knowledge sharing with team members.
This position requires a technical person who is a quick learner and is open to new technologies. This is NOT for someone who wants to use and stay with existing skills set.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work directly with business analysts
- Helps junior developers with technical issue and does code reviews as needed
- Utilizes Business Intelligence based Tools, Services and Supports (Talend, PDI, CTools, SSIS, SSRS) for BI solutions
- Performs various coding, debugging and unit testing tasks in support of assigned project
- Provides ongoing maintenance and support for assigned applications and/or systems
- Participates in the estimation of work and provide input into the project plan for delivering that work
- Provides ongoing input to the establishment of programming standards and methodologies
- Applies current programming standards and methodologies to all relevant projects and activities
- Develops BI and ETL solutions using technologies like Pentaho, Talend and/or SQL Server Integration services
- Attains knowledge of the data warehouse, data mart models and the business information maintained in each
- Experience in creating dashboards and executive-level reports with BI tools like Tableau, PowerBI or standard tools like Cognos, Business Objects, Crystal reports, SSRS.
- Experience with some UNIX / LINUX OS
- Some experience with Java, java script is preferred
- Good understanding of OLAP Cubes (MDX)
- Experience with handling data in cloud
- Strong experience with RDBMS like Oracle 11g or later, SQL Server 2015/later
- Strong experience with ANY of the ETL tools like PDI/Kettle, Talend, Integration Services (SSIS)
- Strong Experience with development of complex queries, PL/SQL, T-SQL, Stored Procedures, and performance tuning
- Adhere to documentation, version control, testing and migration standards
- Strong understanding of the lifecycle of technical development from design to deployment and knowledge of releases
- Experience designing and developing outstanding solutions
- Experience with version control systems, preferably TFS
- Proficient using Google mail, calendaring and shared drives
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Information Services, Engineering Sciences or related field of study
- 10 years database experience in RDBMS preferably oracle and sql server
- 10 years combined application/database development/Report development
- 3-5 years open BI
- 3-5 years ETL open source (Pentaho, Talend) and/or SSIS 2012/2015, or any industry standard ETL tool.
