Sr. Business Analyst (BA)

The Business Services Business Analyst (BA) will support daily operations of North American (NA) Payroll, and contribute to projects and initiatives that align with the company’s broader business goals. The BA will collaborate closely with their manager and coordinate activities with other business areas as needed. This role is crucial to the organization as it supports business and system processes for employee onboarding through payroll processing, which is the foundation of our billing cycle, driving over 95% of the company’s revenue.
This role supports US and Canada payroll for 100K weekly paid employees, with multiple payroll runs each week, as well as bi-weekly payroll for 5K Randstad internal associates. It covers various lines of business across different industries, including engineering, light industrial, professional and healthcare, as well as government contracts and FLSA classifications. All functions, from time capture to pay distribution, are handled in-house by department personnel.

What you get to do:

Daily Operations: Support a portfolio of complex or strategic accounts by adhering to established processes and procedures. Make decisions within established guidelines and identify when to take action outside of those guidelines for exceptions.

  • Provide system support including setup, configuration, and maintenance
  • Resolve and assist junior analysts with issues and inquiries related to varying subjects, including, but not limited to; onboarding, time entry, payroll, and from internal customers and agencies.
  • Conduct daily audits to ensure process and compliance requirements are fully met.
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME), partnering with functional and technical teams on system upgrades and fixes, and conduct or assist with User Acceptance Testing to ensure the business requirements are met
  • Develop and/or update functional process documentation as needed

Research, Reconciliation, Problem Identification, and Resolution - Guides team members and works with other departments to address complex operational issues and discrepancies. This involves conducting research and gaining a thorough understanding of the operating companies and customer accounts the manager and BAs supports. Ensure systems and processes comply with customer contracts and are managed appropriately.

  • Promptly investigate, identify and report potential database issues
  • Develop, oversee and deliver reports for operational analysis, trend monitoring , audits and special projects
  • Ensure database accuracy by performing validation queries

Producing Insights and Driving Decisions Through Analysis - Create advanced analytical frameworks and models to gain deep insights into customer account performance and business service operations, leveraging key metrics to inform strategic decision-making

Customer Support - Build and maintain strong relationships with key customer contacts and internal departments. Effectively manage conflicts with empathy, demonstrating a commitment to customer satisfaction, collaboration, and a passion for Randstad’s business.

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for key enterprise initiatives and act as a liaison across multiple departments, including Benefits, Compensation, HR, Talent Relations, Treasury, Accounting, IT, and others.
  • Consistently provide timely updates to customers, stakeholders, and management on ongoing tasks and projects.
  • Proactively follow up with customers, technical teams and other stakeholders when further assistance is required

Process Improvements - Exhibit a strong passion for achieving results and challenging the status quo. Lead small-scale projects focused on process improvements and enhancing efficiency

  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing processes, functionality, and workflows by leveraging technical capabilities to minimize manual tasks and improve data management and overall efficiency
  • Coach, review, and support team growth by developing, administering, and updating training materials to ensure team is versed on best practice for departmental processes, including compliance, regulatory standards, contractual obligations, and system usage.
  • Build strong professional relationships within internal and cross functional teams, support teams and customer facing lines of business.

Directing Work - Not a people leader. May direct work of assigned junior team members related to initiatives the Sr BA leads. Provides mentoring to junior team members.

 What you need to bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. Educational background in business, finance, accounting, computer science or math preferred.
  • 5-7 years work experience in business operations, accounting, financial analysis, or data analysis
  • 5-7 years Experience interfacing with other teams and customers, providing positive customer experience, working through conflict or complex matters
  • 5-7 years Experience providing coaching/mentoring to junior team members
  • Proficiency using Google mail, calendaring and shared drives
  • Intermediate Excel skills required
  • Intermediate knowledge of Google suite (Gmail, calendar, meet, word, sheets, etc)
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Systems Knowledge Preferred: PeopleSoft Front Office, Financials, and Human Resources; Bullhorn ATS, 365, and Peoplenet; Workday; Salesforce; swipejobs
